How do I get to Salem Baptist?

What should I expect?

You can't miss our 25 acre campus located one mile east of Highway 51 on Route 48 (aka Taylorville Road) in Decatur. As you approach the Main Entrance, one of our hospitality greeters will meet you and direct you to the right classes and services. They can also answer any other questions you may have.

Adults attend our morning worship service at 10:30 am where they enjoy the beautiful and inspiring music from the choir, ensembles, and soloists. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Derek Bradshaw. If you'd like, your children (3yrs - 6th Grade) may attend one of our special children's worship services where the teaching, music, and learning environment is tailored especially for them. These morning services are about an hour in length, and a first-class nursery is also provided.

Also, during the 9:30 am hour, there are special Bible Study Classes (and Sunday Schools for the kids). These classes are smaller group settings where you are invited to meet people, enjoy some coffee with friends, and hear a teaching lesson more directly applicable to your life-stage. The best way to get to know people at Salem Baptist Church is to visit one of these Adult Bible Study groups.

What to Expect

Where do I take my children?

During our services, there are safe, clean, and highly staffed nurseries for children three years old and under. Mothers will receive a pager so that the nursery attendants can easily contact you if there is a need.

For children four years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child.

Our greeters and ushers are located around campus as well as in the lobby of the main worship center and will gladly help direct and even escort you to the right place. You can learn more about your child's class by clicking here.

What about my teens?

Our Salem Baptist Teen Ministry is called The RISE. RISE stands for Righteousness, Instruction, Service, and Evangelism. The goal of this ministry is to assist parents in raising up the next generation of faithful young Christians who will put into practice the four pillars of their namesake; not only in High School, but also throughout their entire adult lives. FAQs

How should I dress?

There is not a dress code at Salem Baptist Church for members or for guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable during your visits.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

No. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
